ABOUT OUR TOWNSHIP

Perry Township was founded in 1839 and is located in the northwestern corner of Fayette County, Pennsylvania.The Township is bisected by PA Route 51, bordered by the Youghiogheny River on the east, and PA Route 201 on the south.

Perry Township comprises 6 villages – Banning, Layton, Star Junction, Virgin Run, Whitsett and Wickhaven – and encircles the Borough of Perryopolis.The Star Junction Ballfield, the Weiss Memorial Park in Whitsett, and the Wickhaven Playground are maintained by the Township.A portion of the Great Allegheny Passage Trail runs through the Township along the Youghiogheny River.

The 2005 census reported a population of 2,500+ residents within 19.7 square miles of roads.Perry Township services approximately 29 miles of Township-owned roads, while PennDOT maintains approximately 25 miles of state-owned roads.
